TVonics
TVonics was formed in 2004 with the aim of delivering best-in-class Freeview receivers and recorders. The engineering team previously developed advanced digital TV solutions for Sony in South Wales and is well versed in how to design quality, easy-to-use consumer electronics devices. Technology created by TVonics was used in the historic first wave of digital-switchovers in the UK at Whitehaven in 2007. In the same year the company also revealed the world’s smallest and simplest to connect DVB-T set-top box.
Focusing on style, ease of use and energy efficiency as the three key foundation principles of the company, TVonics has delivered several groundbreaking products and services into the UK Freeview digital TV market. TVonics is fully committed to the MHEG-5 technology in all its Freeview and Freeview+ products and also actively supports the promotion of the technology worldwide
One of the main commercial benefits of MHEG-5 is its complete cost effectiveness in delivering high levels of TV interactivity, allowing operators to offer a whole host of compelling new revenue generating services using genuine open standards technology. This keeps both deployment and running costs low. The scalability and flexibility of MHEG-5 means that its capabilities are constantly expanding and evolving to meet ever changing consumer demands, and Latens will be aligning itself to technology that has already been proven in the market.
