Finlux
The Finlux brand has been available in Europe since 1964 when the founder company started manufacturing televisions in Finland. Finlux Ltd. was established in 2002, and since then, Finlux has been a leading expert in digital technology in Finland. In early 2006, Vestel, part of the Turkish Zorlu Group and Europe’s largest TV manufacturer, bought the Finlux brand and Finlux televisions staged a return to the stores in Finland in autumn 2006. Vestel, is Europe’s largest and the world’s third largest television manufacturer with a research and development unit of 500 employees and its plants manufacture 12 million television sets each year.
Finlux has subsequently been launched in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Spain, Italy, Romania, Benelux and UK. Finlux is not new to the UK and were even the proud sponsors of Sheffield Wednesday football club in the 1980’s. Cutting edge technology, research, development and the Scandinavian heritage of Finlux create the foundations for Finlux in the UK. Finlux is synonymous with Scandinavian living and Finlux represents the key principles of a Scandinavian lifestyle – healthy, simple and functional. In line with the mid and high-end product sales strategy, all Finlux TV sets sold in the UK are equipped with an MHEG-5 engine.
One of the main commercial benefits of MHEG-5 is its complete cost effectiveness in delivering high levels of TV interactivity, allowing operators to offer a whole host of compelling new revenue generating services using genuine open standards technology. This keeps both deployment and running costs low. The scalability and flexibility of MHEG-5 means that its capabilities are constantly expanding and evolving to meet ever changing consumer demands, and Latens will be aligning itself to technology that has already been proven in the market.
