Membership of IMPALA is open to MHEG technology providers (as Promoters), manufacturers and others i.e. broadcasters who use MHEG (as Supporters). The MOU allows for two classes of membership: Promoters and Supporters. Promoter members are expected to be suppliers of MHEG and supporting technology who aim to promote the use of MHEG.
Promoter members are asked to share the costs of operation of the organisation. Promoter members manage the organisation, and answer requests for information. MHEG suppliers who are promoter members must have independently certified conformance to UK Profile 1.06 for MHEG engines or applications, as appropriate.
Supporter members are those who utilise MHEG in receivers, broadcasts and elsewhere, and who are, by being Supporter members, indicating approval of the technology or willingness to supply goods and services to markets using it. Supporter members will incur no direct costs, but will be asked to allow their branding and relevant links to appear on the IMPALA website and other promotional material.
To become a Promoter or Supporter member of IMPALA please e-mail us.
One of the main commercial benefits of MHEG-5 is its complete cost effectiveness in delivering high levels of TV interactivity, allowing operators to offer a whole host of compelling new revenue generating services using genuine open standards technology. This keeps both deployment and running costs low. The scalability and flexibility of MHEG-5 means that its capabilities are constantly expanding and evolving to meet ever changing consumer demands, and Latens will be aligning itself to technology that has already been proven in the market.
